EIC responds to Scottish Government Low Emission Zone consultation

EIC has responded to the Scottish Government’s consultation on Low Emission Zone regulations and guidance.

EIC welcomes Scotland’s LEZ ambition, but believe the scope needs to be extended, and the enforcement regime strengthened if it is to be successful. For example, the LEZ’s remit should be extended to more explicitly cover Transport Refrigeration Units (TRUs), and also go beyond transportation to include non-road mobile machinery (NRMM) – such as diesel generators on construction sites – which are major contributors to urban air pollution.

You can find full details of the consultation on Transport Scotland’s website.
