The APPG on Air Pollution launched their latest report via a webinar on Friday 29 May. Hosted by APPG chair, Geraint Davies MP, the online launch was also attended by MPs and Peers who work together to promote measures to tackle poor air quality. The group’s secretariat is provided by ACE sister organisation, the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC).
The report, Air quality strategy to reduce coronavirus infection examines how to maintain current low air pollution levels as society emerges from lockdown. The agenda covered academic research and post lockdown strategy, research presentations and COVID-19 deaths and infection rates and air pollution.
Speakers included:
- Xiao Wu doctoral student, and Rachel Nethery, Assistant Professor of Biostatistics of Harvard T.H. Chan School Of Public Health.
- Jonathan Grigg, Professor of paediatric respiratory and environmental medicine at Queen Mary University of London.
- Alastair Lewis, Professor of atmospheric chemistry at York University and Chair of the Defra Air Quality Expert Group (AQEG).
