A Tale of Two Cities will compare the smart city/sustainability challenges between contrasting cities with speakers representing both the wider smart city community and specific places.
Curated by the EIC Sustainable Smart Cities group, the first episode will focus on active travel and what cities/places have done to successfully implement active travel measures, the challenges faced and types of technology used, both before and during the pandemic.
Hosted by Michael Rudd (Bird&Bird) chair of the taskforce, the event features panellists including Stephen Arnold (Birmingham city council), Richard Eason (London Borough of Enfield), Alex Pazuchanics (Vianova), Matthew Pencharz (Voi), and Marianne Weinreich (Ramboll).
Guests will share insight on how cities such as Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen and Paris champion active travel.
Commenting on the webinar, EIC director of policy, Matthew Farrow said: “The first of a series of webinars in 2021 from EIC’s sustainable smart cities taskforce, this online event will explore how the pandemic has changed approaches to active travel and how cities across the UK can learn from others.
“Open to all members who will, given the renewed interest in active travel post-pandemic from local authorities, gain valuable insight into how they can help communities up and down the country make the most of newfound enthusiasm for walking and cycling.”
