IN THE MEDIA: BROWNFIELD FIRST

Round up of media coverage of our latest report exploring the potential of brownfield

Last October saw the release of Brownfield First, the latest report from EIC which argues that encouraging brownfield development is key to unlocking levelling up ambitions.

Released ahead of the appointment of Michael Gove as new "Levelling Up" minister, and the announcement by his new department that £58m will be earmarked for local councils to encourage brownfield development, the report arrived at an opportune moment to influence the debate. Indeed, we are delighted to share that following its launch we met with policymakers from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities to discuss our proposals.

Chair of the contaminated land group, Peter Atchison penned an opinion piece in PBC Today, one of the construction sector's largest free news magazines. This followed a comment piece from previous director of policy Matthew Farrow in LocalGov, the largest free website for local government news. Finally, EIC's head of policy Guto Davies explored brownfield's potential in the capital with Planning in London

The report's launch was also covered by: LocalGov, Government Business Magazine, Development Finance Today, Property Reporter, EnviroTec, Today's Conveyancer, Planning Portal, The Planner, CL:AIR, Infrastructure Intelligence, Specification Online, and Roofing Today.

Find out more about the report from the contaminated land group on our website.
