Matthew Farrow, director of policy at the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC) which represents the companies, large and small, working in the environmental technologies and services sector, said:
“The unavoidable delay in the Environment Bill to allow for covid legislation was understandable, but the Government now has to make up for missed time over the coming weeks and months. It is not just vital to replacing the environmental protections lost through Brexit, but in creating a long term framework of environmental targets and enforcement that will allow the UK’s environmental business sector to make the investments in the green innovation and technology needed if we are to meet Society’s ambitions on issues such as Net Zero.”
