Mayor Sadiq Khan has announced that the capital's Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) is to be introduced into central London from early 2019, before expanding out to the North and South Circulars in 2021 – and will increase the emissions standards for vehicles operating in the capital.

EIC's executive director Matthew Farrow comments: 

"We welcome today’s announcement about expanding the ULEZ and toughening up vehicle standards. This is another step to make sure Londoners have air that is fit to breathe. EIC’s members have the technologies to make the expanded ULEZ a success, but it is important that they get as much early insight as possible into the technical detail and enforcement procedures."
