Heathrow Airport sees over 80 million passengers each year - and thanks to Amey’s strategic asset management advice, that is set to almost double by 2040.

Having assessed their strategies for asset management, especially regarding maintenance of engineering assets, Amey found a number of inefficiencies in Heathrow’s then asset management system and approach.

Collaborating with the team at Heathrow, Amey developed an asset liability model from which they could forecast outcomes of different strategic decisions and asset management options.

This enabled Heathrow to strategically invest in the combinations of assets which were most optimally suited to their needs.

Following this success, Amey project managed the transition of services between Heathrow and Crossrail – allowing for a seamless flow of customers between the two transport hubs.

This work has allowed Heathrow to understand, process and present the state of their assets to key internal and external stakeholders.
